My Approach:
Embodiment Coaching

What Is Embodiment Coaching?

We spend so much time in our heads, weighing up pros and cons, analysing our feelings and trying to think our way into the right decision.

Sometimes, though, knowing what makes sense on paper doesn’t mean it feels right for us. And understanding why we do something doesn’t always make it easier to change.

Embodiment coaching helps you slow down when you’re stuck in your head, going round in circles trying to work out what to do.

Rather than focusing only on your thoughts, we also pay attention to your emotions, physical sensations, and nervous system responses. Together, we explore what’s happening beneath the surface, what matters to you, and what you actually want.

What Happens in an Embodiment Coaching Session?

You don't need to arrive knowing what you want to say. I'll guide you throughout, and we'll work with whatever comes up.

Here’s how my sessions work:

What Can We Work On?

Often, we start with something that's been bothering you for a while, a situation you can't stop thinking about, or a pattern you're tired of repeating.

Here are some examples of things we might explore together.

  • “I want to tell my partner how I feel, but I’m scared of upsetting them.”
  • “I say yes to things I don’t want to do, then feel resentful afterwards.”
  • “I feel responsible for everyone else’s feelings.”
  • “I need to set a boundary, but I feel guilty even thinking about it.”
  • “I replay conversations afterwards, wondering whether I’ve said the wrong thing.”
  • “I don’t feel like myself around certain people because I’m so busy trying to keep them happy.”

We might explore what happens when you consider disappointing someone, why speaking up feels difficult, and how you can respond in ways that honour your own needs.

  • “I’ve been going back and forth over this decision for weeks.”
  • “I know I’m capable, but I constantly doubt myself.”
  • “I’ve made the decision, so why can’t I stop worrying I’ve got it wrong?”
  • “I can’t switch off, even when things are going well.”
  • “I know what I want to do, but I feel unable to do it.”
  • “I’ve done years of therapy and understand my patterns, but I still react the same way.”

We might explore the difference between knowing something intellectually and feeling able to act on it, helping you develop more steadiness when uncertainty or discomfort arises.

  • “I’ve become a mum, and I don’t recognise myself anymore.”
  • “I’m returning to work after maternity leave, but I’m not sure I want my old life back.”
  • “My children are getting older, and I’m wondering what I want for myself now.”
  • “I’ve left a relationship, but I don’t know who I am outside of it.”
  • “I’ve built a successful career, but I’m questioning whether I even want it anymore.”
  • “I want to change careers, but the thought of starting again terrifies me.”
  • “My life looks great on paper, so why do I feel so unfulfilled?”

We might explore what no longer fits, what you want to carry forward, and what your next chapter could look like if you gave yourself permission to want something different.

  • “I want to ask for a promotion, but I’m scared they’ll think I’m not good enough.”
  • “I have an idea for a business, but I keep finding reasons not to start.”
  • “I struggle to put myself out there because I’m worried about what people will think.”
  • “I take on too much at work because I don’t know how to say no.”
  • “I want to be more visible in my business, but I feel exposed whenever I promote myself.”
  • “I’m successful, but maintaining that success is exhausting.”

We might explore the fears and internal responses that get in the way of taking action, asserting yourself and pursuing ambitions that matter to you.

    • “Everyone comes to me when they need something, but I don’t know who to turn to.”
    • “I can’t relax unless everything is done.”
    • “I feel guilty when I’m not being productive.”
    • “I get snappy with my family because I’ve spent all day holding everything together.”
    • “I want to ask for help, but somehow it’s easier to do it all myself.”
    • “I feel like I have to be the strong one, even when I’m struggling.”
    • “I’m exhausted, but slowing down makes me uncomfortable.

We might explore your relationship with rest, responsibility and receiving support, and what happens when you feel you have to be capable, useful or available all the time.

  • “I hide parts of myself because I’m scared people won’t accept me.”
  • “I feel like I’m too much whenever I express anger or have a need.”
  • “I struggle to receive compliments without dismissing them.”
  • “I feel uncomfortable being seen, even when I want to put myself out there.”
  • “I know I deserve better, but I keep accepting less.”
  • “I find it hard to trust that people will still like me if I disagree with them.”
  • “I want to stop living according to what everyone else thinks I should be.”

We might explore the discomfort around expressing needs, taking up space and allowing yourself to be seen without constantly monitoring other people’s reactions.

What Might You Actually Bring to an Embodiment Coaching Session?

Sometimes, the starting point is much smaller and more immediate than any of these bigger themes mentioned above.

Perhaps you’ve drafted a message to someone but are terrified to send it. You’ve been offered a new job and can’t decide whether to accept. You’ve had an argument with your partner and can’t stop replaying it. Or you’ve finally got a weekend to yourself but feel too guilty to enjoy it.

Maybe you’ve made a big life change and are surprised by how unsettled you feel afterwards.

You don’t have to arrive with a perfectly articulated problem or an understanding of your own patterns. We can start with what’s happening right now and explore it together.

How Is Embodiment Coaching Different From Talking Therapy?

Talking therapy can help you understand your experiences, emotions and patterns, including where they came from and why you respond the way you do.

Embodiment coaching brings particular attention to your physical sensations, emotions and nervous system responses, alongside your thoughts and experiences.

Rather than relying solely on talking things through, we explore what’s happening for you in the present and how you experience a situation in your body. You don’t need to explain your past in detail or relive difficult memories for us to begin working together.

For some people, this offers a helpful next step when they’ve gained plenty of insight but still struggle to respond differently in everyday situations. Others find it complements the work they’re already doing in therapy.

You Don't Have to Figure It All Out Before You Begin

You don’t need to arrive knowing what you want or having the right words to explain what’s going on. You just need something you’d like to explore, even if all you know is that something doesn’t feel right. We’ll work out the rest together.
